VANCOUVER — The developer of a floating liquefied natural gas export facility proposed for Vancouver Island says it has a deal with a Korean shipbuilder for the design of two large at-shore hulls. Steelhead LNG and partner Huu-ay-aht First Nations say the agreement was signed at the Gastech Conference in Barcelona with Hyundai Heavy. A company called Steelhead LNG is proposing to build two natural gas liquefaction and export facilities on Vancouver Island. The Malahat LNG Project, a facility built on a floating platform, with a capacity to export six million metric tons per year, would be located near Mill Bay on the island.
GSX is a project designed to carry natural gas from a Canadian interconnect, near Sumas, to Vancouver Island, via a new pipeline that will go through U.S. land and waters. In Whatcom County, the pipeline will pass near Lynden, Ferndale and Birch Bay and will enter the water at Cherry Point, a proposed aquatic reserve. Component of Kwispaa LNG Project calls for subsea pipeline from Powell River to Comox. Pipeline would traverse across Vancouver Island from Comox shoreline to Sarita Bay. Oct. 30, a.m. News.

Henry M. Yamauchi Westcoast Energy Inc. Vancouver, B.C. After more than 30 years of discussions and planning, the Vancouver Island (B.C.) pipeline is finally under construction. The new pipeline. A new LNG project envisioned for Vancouver Island would accept natural gas via an underwater pipeline that would weave from Washington State through the Gulf Islands, according to a proposal.
The Georgia Strait Crossing is a proposal to construct a pipeline to bring natural gas to Vancouver Island from "the mainland" – the continental part of southwestern British Columbia.
Strong expressions of concern and opposition to the proposal are coming from farmers, residents and communities along the pipeline route, and from environmental. The natural gas pipeline project will connect Western Canada’s plentiful natural gas resources to Vancouver Island, providing natural gas producers access to international markets at fair prices, while generating economic benefits for British Columbia and Canada, helping to provide substantial investments in health, education, and Vancouver Island Natural Gas Pipeline Project book.
A liquefied natural gas project planned for Vancouver Island has been halted, the latest setback for LNG proponents in British Columbia. “We’re talking about a pause,” said Nigel Kuzemko.
The project will include the construction of a pipeline to deliver natural gas from northern BC to Huu-ay-aht territory, as well as a land-based liquefaction facility in Sarita Bay and a processing plant that will treat, liquefy and store the natural gas.
Gas processed at the site will be loaded into carriers for exportation to customers, primarily in Asia. The temporary bridge will help Coastal GasLink workers access remote sections of the km natural gas pipeline project, according to a news release. The bridge – which spans feet – was given a thumbs up after Nak’azdli Whu’en’s Natural Resource Department and Chief Alexander McKinnon and council were assured it could be done.
A potential rough corridor has been mapped out for a proposed pipeline that will transport natural gas across the Island to Sarita Bay near Bamfield. But a specific route has yet to be identified. A new route is needed after the original plan to have the Kwispaa pipeline travel across the Island from a facility based in Bamberton on the Saanich.

A Vancouver Island First Nation says it is "deeply disappointed" that a Vancouver-based liquefied natural gas company has pulled out of a planned LNG development just months after it. FortisBC has received approval from the British Columbia Utilities Commission to increase the cost of gas for all its natural gas customers in the Mainland and Vancouver Island.
As of August 1,the natural gas bill for these customers will increase by approximately 9 per. The pipeline installation and operation will be regulated by the BC Oil and Gas Commission. Construction will include extensive use of directional drilling (particularly for water body crossings and intersections) to mitigate potential environmental impacts and.
